VO2 and longevity
Did you know that your VO2 max is potentially the best predictor of your lifespan in the medical literature? See here:
VO2 max - a key predictor of longevity?
While there is a genetic component to VO2 max (we can’t all win the Boston Marathon or Tour de France!), your VO2 max can absolutely be tested and improved!

How do we test VO2 max?
VO2 max is a specific ‘all out’ test of your ability to use oxygen as a fuel source during exercise. In our clinic, we conduct our VO2 max testing on an indoor cycle. The average test takes 10-15 minutes and comes with an extensive printout of your metrics to help understand your VO2 max, your cardiorespiratory fitness and form a plan to help you achieve your best healthspan!

Does VO2 max decline with age?
Unfortunately, yes VO2 max does decline with age. The average decline is 7-10% per decade, mostly due to a decline in heart rate as we age.
However, Dr. Brett as a physician and certified personal trainer has the expertise to stabilize and improve your VO2 max with personalized cardiorespiratory programming, which improves your quality of life!

How often should I retest?
Depending on your goals - for fitness or as an athlete - testing recommendations will vary. For optimal healthspan, we would recommend most individuals retest every 6 months.
The more frequent you are with your cardiorespiratory fitness plan, the more frequently we can assess your progress.
